I am absolutely in love with Tim Holtz’s Layered Leaf Die and Texture Fade! Can you believe how realistic they look?! It took longer to write this looooong blog post than it did to create these leaves! LOL!
To create the background for the leaves, I used two pieces of 4″ x 8″ piece of Manila Card Stock. For the first, I smushed Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door Distress Inks onto a Craft Sheet, spritzed with water and swiped the card stock through it.
The result was this background which I heat set.
Next, I tapped the card stock onto the remaining Distress Inks to create this look.
I took the matching Distress Inks and applied them to the tag using a Blending Tool.
I used my favorite Spritz and Flick Technique to create the water droplets and heat set again.
I used the Tim Holtz Layered Leaf Die to cut out two leaves.
Now…for the amazing part….Just put the leaf into the embossing folder and voila! You have a gorgeous, realistic looking leaf!
I applied some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink over the raised portions of the leaf and around the edges.
To create a different version of the leaves, I repeated the procedure using Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Mowed Lawn Distress Stains.
After the initial “swipe,” I was left with this background.
I added Barn Door Distress Stain and tapped the card stock onto the remaining inks and heat set.
I applied three of the Distress Inks to the tag using a Blending Tool.
After the infamous “Spritz and Flick” Technique, I was left with this background.
I cut the leaves using the Tim Holtz Layered Leaf Die to create these two leaves.
I used the Layered Leaf Texture Fade on the two leaves and sponged some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink over the top and sides.
To create the Reinforcer for the Tag, I used one of the TH Framelits to cut it from the left-over background piece.
I die cut the Tag from Specialty Stamping Paper and slipped it into the TH French Script Texture Fade Embossing Folder. I spritzed the tag with SU! Vanilla Smooch Spritz Spray.
After adhering two leaves to the front of the Tag, Crinkle Ribbon was dyed using the same color Distress Stains and then wrapped around my fingers about four times.
Another piece of ribbon was wrapped around it and tied in the back of the tag to create the bow.
An Idea-ology Mini Corner was attached to the bottom of the Tag. The Sentiment was stamped in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink. I used the Thumping Technique with a couple different color markers and stamped it onto card stock, trimmed it down and adhere to SU! Pumpkin Pie Cardstock and then layered that onto a piece of SU! Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. The entire Tag was then sprayed with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz Spray ’cause you can never have to much sparkle!
