I usually think of myself as a Card Maker but, lately, I’m thoroughly enjoying all kinds of Paper Crafting and Mixed Media. Art Journals are a great way to try out new techniques and use stamps you love. These pages use lots of my favorites: Distress Inks and Stains, Stencils, Embossing Paste and some Embellishments. I’ve photographed the steps but they’re pretty much the same Distressed Background Techniques that I use on my cards. Enjoy! 😀
Squeeze Distress Inks onto a Craft Sheet. The colors used for these pages were: Mustard Seed, Peacock Feathers, Spiced Marmalade and Barn Door.
Spritz the Distress Stains with Water and then smush the Art Journal Pages into the Distress Stains until they pages are fully inked. Heat Set.
Use the same color Distress Inks to go over the pages using a Blending Tool.
Tape the TH Chevron Stencil over the edge of the Art Journal Page and apply Embossing Paste through the Stencil. Carefully remove it and immediately wash the paste off of the Stencil and allow the paste to thoroughly dry on the page.
Repeat on the other page.
Do the “Spritz and Flick” Technique to get the water droplets onto the pages.
Use a Sponge Dauber and White Craft Ink through the TH Speckles Stencil to get tiny white speckles onto the pages.
Start to build your pages with Stamps and Embellishments. Note to Self is from TH Idea-ology Alpha Parts.
The “82” is from TH Plaquettes that I have been hoarding.
The Be Fearless Stamp was inked with Black Archival Ink and stamped onto the left side of the page.
The edges of TH Chit Chat Stickers were inked with Black Soot Distress Ink and attached to the page. Jute String was tied through a Philosophy Tag and attached to the page with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The TH “Encourage your hopes…” Stamp was stamped in Black Archival Ink.
The TH Typewriter was Die Cut and Silver Encore Ink was applied using a small foam tip.
I had a “left over” strip of TH Remnant Rubs so I applied them to the bottom of the page.
Here are the finished pages. Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. Click here to subscribe to my mailing list. Now go Create Something! LOL 😉
