Some days I am very grateful that Art is my outlet!  Today is one of those days. 🙂  Yesterday, on the other hand was the kind of day that makes you need an outlet!  Sheesh!  At 2:35 am – I finally finished working so today, I promised myself I would take an hour to play.  This card was created purely for the joy of Card Making.

I absolutely love the background!  I’ll show you how easy it was to create!  I kept the rest of the card simple because I couldn’t bear the thought of covering any of it up.

Put some Rubbing Alcohol onto a Craft Sheet.  Put a drop or two of Permanent Reinkers – these were Wendy Vecchi’s Orange Blossom and Cornflower Blue and then Adirondack Mixative in Copper.  Swish them a little with a spatula and swipe your Ranger Specialty Paper through.

Move the card stock around – you can even add a little more Alcohol to it to disperse the inks.  When you’re satisfied, heat set it.  The Heat Tool will move the inks around a little too.

You get an amazing variety of backgrounds.  No two are alike!  Some of these have Fern Green in them too.

I stamped one of the Art Stamps from Tim Holtz’s Classic’s #4 Stamp Set in Black Archival Ink directly over the background.  I did a second generation stamp with a couple of TH’s other stamps (Tim Holtz’s Classic’s #16 and Tim Holtz’s Mini Classic’s) in the corners of the card stock.

I aged an Idea-ology Word Band with Rusty Hinge and Evergreen Bough Distress Paints and then tied it onto the card with TH Twine.

An Idea-ology Mini Corner was aged in the same manner and then attached to the corner of the background piece.  The finished background was adhered to a piece of SU! Island Indigo Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored and folded at 4 1/4″ using Foam Tape.
