Distress Stains are perfect for Art Journal Pages! Stencils work really well too – and Stamps and Tags and Charms too. Basically, anything can be used on your pages! Today’s pages use all of the above…and my favorite color scheme too.
I put several Distress Stains onto a Craft Sheet (Scattered Straw, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain), spritzed them with water and smushed the Art Journal Pages and a couple of pieces of Manila Cardstock for Tags into them.
They were heat set and the process was repeated until both pages were done.
I used several TH Stencils with the matching Distress Inks. I sponged Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the Clocks and Frayed Burlap Distress Ink over the Burlap Stencil.
Next, I sponged Antique Bronze Distress Paint through the Speckled Strencil. It’s funny…there was a day, not too long ago, where “messy” would have freaked me out a little. Now, I LOVE it! LOL!
I had a couple of pieces of Manila Cardstock “around the house” so I used them to create Tags for these pages. I stamped “Remember The Now” from the Random Quotes Stamp Set in SU! Chocolate Chip Ink and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. I used the top of a Tag Framelit to cut the Tag shape and embellished it with a TH Reinforcer. I used a couple of Random Stamps inked lightly with Black Archival Ink on the pages as a background.
I used the same color Distress Inks to dye 2 pieces of Crinkle Ribbon for both of the Tags. The smaller Tag uses a quote from TH Classics #16 Stamp Set, Chocolate Chip Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.
The edges of the Tags were sponged with Walnut Distress Ink. The Spritz and Flick Technique was used on both Tags. This Tag was embellished with 2 Idea-Ology Mini Corners and a Custom Fastener. Both tags were adhered to the pages with Foam Tape.
An Idea-Ology Time Piece with a Game Spinner was used on one of the pages.
The top and bottom edges of the pages were sticking up a little so I used Tissue Tape over them and then swiped Vintage Photo Distress Paint over the Tape.
AlphaTiles were used to spell out the word “Time.”
I love this quote from Meryl Streep so I wrote it onto the page using a Calligraphy Marker.
To finish off the pages, I added Label Letters to spell “Invent” and Alpha Parts Signmaker letters painted with Tarnished Brass Distress Ink to spell the word “Art.” After all, we are all “Inventors of Art!” 😉
