Today's objective was to create something using "something in my backyard" as inspiration. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fall and the leaves are JUST beginning to change here. That makes me happy! 😀 AND, it makes for great inspiration! I created another tag – this one for myself! haha – I am always making things for other people and I rarely even think of making something for me! So, today's tag is a reminder to Believe in Myself, Be Fearless, Explore Life and Breathe! All good suggestions! LOL! It is another Vintage creation. (I hope you're not getting tired of Vintage/Shabby Chic!!!!) :-O
So this started out because I decided to clean my Craft Room. Then, I unearthed some fun trinkets and some distress stains and…playing with my "stuff" became far more interesting than cleaning! I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my Embossing Paste – especially because a week ago, I didn't even know what that was! But, alas…it has not gotten here yet so used Emboss Resist instead. I stamped a leaf from the Gently Falling Stamp Set in Whisper White Craft Ink and embossed it with White Embossing Powder and a heat tool. Then, I put a couple of drops of Pumpkin Pie Reinker, Forest Moss and Wild Honey Distress Stains onto my Craft Mat and spritzed with water. I pressed my tag into the colors, spritzed the tag with water and then heat set it. Then I did it again a few times and heat set again. I dropped a few water drops onto the tag and dried it again. I used some rub ons in different places and then stamped "Be Fearless" in Whisper White Craft Ink and heat set it without using embossing powder. I stamped the "gears" in Jet Black Stazon Ink.
I used a little "gear" trinket with a screw brad (can you STAND those tiny beauties!) to adhere it to the top of my tag. I tied the "C" to the ribbon – which I dyed myself and stamped leaves onto in Early Espresso Ink (see photo above) - using Linen Thread.
The "Breathe" token was awesome by itself but I wanted to age it a little but I really didn't have any of the tools to do that (like paints or verdigris embossing powder) so, I improvised by touching some Versamark Embossing Ink onto the token and then sprinkling Pool Party Embossing Powder onto it and then Heat Set it. I think I got a little carried away. (I know that's a recurring theme for me!) I attached it to the tag using a Black Brad. The edges of the tag were distressed with a Distress Tool and then they were sponged with Early Espresso Ink and Black Soot Distress Stain. I backed the tag with another tag to cover up the brad legs and smudges on the back of the tag.
