Clean and Simple Tall and Skinny Card

Here’s a simple, bright colored DIY card using Patterned Paper and Circle Punches to create a tall and skinny card that’s great for any occasion.  Happy Monday! 😀

  • Cut SU! Whisper White Cardstock 4 1/4″ x 11″.  Score and fold at 5 1/2″.
  • Cut strip of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper.  Layer onto a piece of Melon Mambo card stock and adhere to card front.
  • Cut a rectangle of Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper (different pattern) and layer onto a piece of Tempting Turquoise Cardstock.
  • Stamp a sentiment from Starburst Sayings in Melon Mambo Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and cut out using the matching framelits.
  • Use the Circle Framelits to cut out a larger circle in Tempting Turquoise Cardstock and layer the sentiment on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Adhere to card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Use different sized Circle Punches to punch out different patterns of the Designer Series Paper and layer onto circles of Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight Cardstocks.
  • Embellish with a Rhinestone Basic Jewel.

Craft Metal Hello Card

Today, I have the pleasure of being a Guest Designer at Paper Crafting Magic Challenges,  The theme is "Anything Goes," so of course, I ran to my Embossing Folders and Craft Metal Sheets!

Hello with Craft Metal

  • The base card is SU! Basic Black Cardstock 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4".
  • The next layer is a 4 1/8"" x 5 3/8" piece of Basic Black Cardstock that was passed through the Big Shot in the SU! Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder.
  • The Golden Glimmer Craft Metal Sheet was cut to 4" x 5 1/4" and then passed through the Big Shot in the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder.  Jet Black Stazon Ink was used to ink ONLY the raised portions of the metal.

Hello with Craft Metal

  • The strip of black cardstock across the front was embossing using the same Embossing Folder.
  • The word "hello" is from Wplus9 and was cut from a piece of Gold Craft Metal Sheet that was embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  It was attached using Crystal Effects.
  • A TH Accoutrements Button was attached to embellish the corner of the strip.
  • The top layer was attached to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • A 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock was attached to the inside of the card.

Distress Watercolor Tag

This tag incorporates several Challenges – which is always fun for me! Watercoloring is not something I do very often, probably because I need a lot more practice!  This attempt was based on the technique in Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities III.

The tag was embossed using the TH Compass Set Texture Fade Embossing Folder and then sponged using various Distress Inks – Vintage Photo, Broken China, Scattered Straw and Rusty Hinge.

The main image is from TH Classics #1 Stamp Set.  It was stamped on Watercolor Cardstock using Archival Black Ink and colored using Distress Markers and Brushes.  The edges of the paper were sponged with Pumice Stone Distress Ink and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  It was then adhere to the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The Crinkle Ribbon was dyed using Distress Inks - Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers and Scattered Straw.  The Pediments Die was cut from an old sponged tag (that was too ugly to use, LOL!) and attached to the back of the tag.

Chit Chat Stickers were sponged with Black Soot Distress Ink and adhered to the project with a Tiny Attacher.  A button from Accoutrements was attached using Glue Dots.  An Idea-ology Mini Corner was attached to the bottom of the tag.

Mini Gears and a Game Spinner were also used to embellish the card.

Vintage Journey – Use Every Stamp in the Set (Classic #1 – pieces of each stamp were inked with a Vintage Photo Distress Marker and stamped on the tag.)

Patriotic Card with Craft Metal Stars

For today's Dazzling Diva Design Challenge, I created a Patriotic Card with Craft Metal Stars.  The flag in the background was flow for us when my nephew was in Iraq.

Patriotic Card with Craft Metal

  • Cut a piece of SU! Whisper White Cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Score and fold at 4 1/4".
  • Cut a piece of SU! Whisper White Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Stamp the brushstroke from SU! Work of Art in Real Red Ink three times onto the cardstock.
  • Adhere a 1-7/8" x 2" piece of Midnight Blue Craft Metal to the upper left corner.
  • Stamp "Life Doesn't Have To Be Perfect To Be Wonderful" in Real Red Ink in the lower left corner of the cardstock.
  • Adhere the stamped piece to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Use a 2-Way Glue Pen in between the stamped brushstrokes and sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the glue.

7 Dots Journey Trifold Card

Now…on to the card….  I was so in love with these 7 Dots Studio Papers that I had a very hard time covering them with anything! I wanted to use as many of them as possible so I created a tri-fold card and used three different patterns from the Nature Walk Collection.

  • The base card is SU! Basic Black Cardstock cut 6″ x 12″ and then scored at 4″ and 8″.
  • The two interior panels have 5-7/8″ x 3-7/8″ pieces of 7 Dots Studio Nature Walk patterned paper adhered to them.
  • The front panel is SU! Crumb Cake Cardstock cut to 5-7/8″ x 3-7/8″.
  • A 5-1/2″ x 1-1/4″ piece of Add A Little Dazzle Dark Rich Chocolate Craft Metal Sheet was embossed using the TH French Script Texture Fade and the Big Shot.  It was then adhered to a 5-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ piece of patterned paper.
  • A piece of SU! Crumb Cake Seam Binding was adhered down the front of the card in the center of the craft metal and secured behind with Glue Dots.
  • The “Tie a Bow Using Your Fingers Technique” (How to Video is HERE) was used to tie a triple bow which was adhered to the seam binding with Glue Dots.  The “legs” of the ribbon were positioned and secured with Glue Dots as well.
  • An Idea-ology charm was attached to the knot in the bow using a jump ring.  It was colored using Gold Distress Paint.
  • The word “Journey” from the TH Hashtag Stamp Set was inked in SU! Early Espresso Ink and embossed using Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.  It was then punched with an Oval Punch and secured behind an Idea-ology Ornate Plate.  The Ornate Plate was then attached to the card front using a Paper Piercing Tool and Brads.
  • An Idea-ology Mini Corner was attached to the corner of the Crumb Cake layer and it was then attached to the card front.

Monochromatic Alphabet Press Card

Happy Monochromatic Monday!  Grafitti and WordPress are so big right now!  This card uses the SU! Alphabet Press Embossing Folder as its background and a Ribbon Medalion (See How To Video HERE) in one of the new "In Colors."

Monochromatic Alphapress Card

  • SU! Whisper White Cardstock cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".  Score and fold at 4 1/4".
  • Cut SU!  Whisper White Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Run through Big Shot in the SU! Alphabet Press Embossing Folder.  Sponge Lost Lagoon Ink over the raised portions of the embossing with a Stampin' Sponge.
  • Run a piece of Lost Lagoon Cardstock through the Big Shot in the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder.  Gently rub a Silver Metallic Encore Ink Pad over just the raised portion of the embossing.  Attach cardstock to the left side of the embossed white piece of cardstock.
  • Cut a strip of Brushed Silver Cardstock 1/2" x 4 1/2".  Banner cut the edges and adhere to the front of the card.
  • Use a Jumbo Sticky Round and Lost Lagoon 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon to create a Ribbon Medallion.  (See How To Video HERE)  Attach to the card front.
  • Use a Vintage Faceted Designer Button for the center.  Accent with a Rhinestone Basic Jewel.
  • Cut a Window Sheet to 1 3/4" x 2".  Stamp a Greeting in Jet Black Stazon Ink and attach to the card front using a couple of drops of Crystal Effects.
  • Adhere the card front to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Birthday Card with Texture and Circles

Today's Card is for the ScrapbookerPhD Challenge #12: Add Texture
How do you add texture to your paper crafts? We can't wait to see!
Create a paper craft that showcases how you add texture, 
and tell us about it in your blog post. 

Texture makes me happy!  Embossing Folders are a very easy way to add texure to your project without a lot of work.  This Birthday card has both texture and circles.

Birthday Card with Texture

  • SU! Whisper White Cardstock cut 4 1/4" x 11".  Score and fold at 5 1/2".
  • SU! Whisper White Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" run through Big Shot in Large Polka Dot Embossing folder.
  • Run 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" pieces of colored Cardstock through the Big Shot in different Embossing Folders.
  •     Daffodil Delight Cardstock – Tiny Triangles
  •     Real Red Cardstock- Perfect Polka Dots
  •     Bermuda Bay Cardstock- Zig Zag
  •     Pumpkin Pie Cardstock – Decoratve Dots
  •     Melon Mambo Cardstock – Arrows
  • Punch out 2 of each color using 3/4" Circle Punch and adhere to the circles on the White Cardstock.
  • Stamp "Happy Birthday" from the SU! Occasions 4You Stamp Set in Real Red Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.  Trim cardstock and round corners with a Corner Rounder Punch.
  • Cut a strip of the embossed Bermuda Bay Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Attach the greeting to the front of the stip using Stampin' Dimensionals and then adhere the strip to the center of the card.
  • Spritz the entire card with Vanilla Smooch Spritz Spray.

By The Tide with Craft Metal Card

Today's Challenge Photo (below) was kinda beachy so I used the By The Tide Stamp Set to create this card.By The Tide with Craft Metal Card

  • Brown Sugar Cardstock 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4".
  • Crisp Cantaloupe Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".
  • Whisper White Cardstock with Baked Brown Sugar Ink sponged across the bottom and then Bermuda Bay Ink sponged across the top.
  • The Sea Horse and Shell were stamped in Baked Brown Sugar Ink.
  • The plant was stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe Ink.
  • The Fish was stamped in Soft Suede Ink
  • The "net" was cut from a piece of Brushed Copper Craft Metal Sheet
  • Baked Brown Sugar thick Baker's Twine was wrapped around the card and secured in the back.
  • "Thanks" from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set was stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and then punched with a (retired) tag punch and layered onto a piece of Brushed Copper Craft Metal.
  • A 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock was layered onto the inside of the card.

Vintage Burlap Panel

I love old photos.  I especially love old photos of people I love!  This photo was taken on my Grandparent's Wedding Day.  In the Vintage World, everyone is using "Found Relatives" photos so I figured I could make copies of mine and just use those!

I used the Crafter's Workshop Antiquities Stencil and Embossing Paste to create this Vintage Burlap Panel.

I used Evergreen Bough and Antique Bronze Distress Paints to age the Pocket Watch, Swivel Clasp, Word Key, Button and Corner.  Inside the Pocket Watch is a Timepiece, Mini Gear and Game Spinner.

Sweet Taffy Summer Card

Bright Colors remind me of Summer!  I'm loving Spring in the Northeast but today, it's summer here!  The new SU! Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper is bright and summery so I decided to use it to cheer up a friend.

Sweet Taffy Summer Card

  • SU! Daffodil Delight Cardstock 4 1/4" x 11" – Scored and folded at 5 1/2".
  • SU! Whisper White Cardstock 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Embossed with Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.
  • Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper layered onto Blackberry Bliss Cardstock
  • Tempting Turquoise Cardstock cut with #6 Circle Framelit.
  • Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper cut with #5 Framelit.
  • Sentiment from Starburst Greetings stamped in Melon Mambo Ink on Whisper White Cardstock and cut with Starburst Framelits.  All circles were layered onto each other and the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • The bow is Whisper White Seam Binding and was tied using the "Tie A Bow With Your Fingers" Technique (VIDEO IS HERE).
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels finish off the card.
  • A 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock is attached to the inside of the card.
