Friendship and Loyalty have always been important to me.  This Friend Card was made for one of my oldest and dearest friends.  She and I were "The New Girl" in school in the middle of the school year in 7th Grade.  Naturally, we gravitated to each other.  We have remained friends all these years and I can truly say I would trust her with my life.  She has been one of my most loyal friends and that means a lot!  Her birthday is next week and her name is Rose so I thought a rose on her card would be appropriate and would add just the right amount of color to this Shabby Chic Monochromatic Card. I love Paper Flowers!!!  They're easy to make and they look great on anything!  This flower was created using a Scallop Punch.  Just punch out 3 scallops and then distress them to break down the fibers of the paper.  You can do this by crumpling the paper and then pulling your bone folder across the card stock over and over until the card stock begins to separate.  Stampin' Up! card stock is dyed all the way through so the color is the same inside the paper as it is outside.  Once you've taken the punch outs apart, you'll have 6 layers.  Pierce a hole in the center and insert a brad.  Then, crumple the scallops in toward the center – bunching them up.  Rearrange until you're happy with the flower.  I distressed it by sponging on Baked Brown Sugar Ink with a Stampin' Sponge.  I love the look of Vintage/Shabby with Glitter and Pearls so I added some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter by running a 2 Way Glue Pen across the edges of the rose and then sprinkled the glitter on.  (You can see a VIDEO on how to make this flower HERE.)

All of the edges were distressed with a Distressing Tool and then sponged with Baked Brown Sugar Ink. The letters of the embossing folder also have a little of the ink on them.  This is repeated with the inside of the card as well.

Some days, you just want to stay in and make Cards all day!  Today is that kind of day! This "Trust God" card is a perfect example of WHY I love Textured Impressions Embossing Folders!  It's a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square card that uses only Very Vanilla card stock but packs a lot of texture into a small space!  My sister loves this saying so I am going to put it into a frame for her.  I originally thought of making it into a Wedding Card but I've been doing lots of those lately and thought you guys might want a little variety in my posts! 🙂

The 4" x 4" layer of Very Vanilla card stock was passed through the Big Shot first with the Modern Mosaic Textured Impressions Folder on half and then again with the Beautiful Baroque Textured Impressions Folder on the other half.  I ran a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding down the front of the card layer and adhered to the base card using SNAIL Adhesive Refill. The "doily" peeking out from behind the greeting was cut using the Sizzlits Large Delicate Doilies Die.  The greeting is from the Trust God Stamp Set and is stamped in Crumb Cake Ink onto Very Vanilla Card Stock.  I used the Deco Labels Framelits on the AMAZING Magnetic Platform to cut out the greeting and the background at the same time.  I didn't like the "line" that showed in between them when I put them back together so I covered it with pearls – (individually!) – and then popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals to attach it to the card front.

I created a bow using Very Vanilla Seam Binding and a brad and then covered the brad with a pearl, cut a decorative edge using Craft Scissors and adhered to the card using Glue Dots.  The "ruffle" in the ribbon was created using Glue Dots too.  I had some left-over 5/8" Flower Trim (Boy! I am going to MISS that stuff!) and placed a pearl into the center of each flower.  To finish the card off – because "enough" is never "enough!" LOL – I sprayed the card with Vanilla Smooch Spritz! I am always looking for new greetings to incorporate into my Card Making projects!  This is a new stamp set from the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog.  It is called "Four You" and has four basic greetings:  "Thinking of You," "Hello," "Thank You," and "Birthday Wishes." (See Images Below)  Most of the cards I create and send are "Just because" kinds of cards to let people know I'm thinking of them. This particular card was created for a dear friend who recently had a heart transplant!  I find it incredible that those kinds of operations can be done!  He has definitely been through an ordeal and I want him and his family to know we are thinking of him and that we are here if they need anything.

The colors are a little more masculine so I kept the decorations simple with just a couple of Silver buttons.  I especially love how the Houndstooth Paper from the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper Collection coordinates perfectly with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!  It's those small details that really tie your cards together!  All products are Stampin' Up! and can be purchased in my ONLINE STORE and delivered right to your door!  Enjoy! 🙂

This card began with a challenge to use "my favorite" new accessory from the 2013-2014 Stampin' Up! Catalog – aka the "new" catalog.  You probably realize by now that ACCESSORIES are my absolute favorite part of ANY new catalog and probably the reason I became obsessed with Paper Crafting in the first place!  I love "stuff" and especially embellishments!  Of all the tools, I think I like Embossing Folders BEST of all!  They make your card look so professional and as if you worked for hours on your card when, in fact, it's a quick pass through the Big Shot!  As i often do, I got a little carried away with my accessories and used A LOT of them!  See if you can identify all of them and then check out the supply list at the bottom of this email to see if you missed any.  I know it's chock full of "stuff" so I left it black and "white" (vanilla really) to offset that.  I hope you like it! 😀
