Feels Goods

Some cards take lots of effort and others just seem to make themselves!  Sometimes, I create a card for fun and other times I design it with someone in mind.  I made this card for an old friend who I haven't seen to in a long time.  Jerry Day was the President of Stampin' Up! a number of years ago. He is a truly remarkable human being.  He's one of those people you instantly fall in love with when you meet him. His aura surrounds you with goodness – if you know what I mean. Jerry is a member of the Board of Directors at Stampin' Up! and one of the people I am most excited to see when I go to Convention!  This year, I was unable to attend and I was sad to have missed him!  I created this card for him so I could say hello! After a week of Wedding Cards, I am happily back to Grunge – Shabby Chic, Vintage, Whatever you want to call it! Just give me my Alcohol and Reinker Sprays and my Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set and some Collage type "stuff" and I am a happy Paper Crafting Fool!  This card uses Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock as the base card.  A layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock was distressed using Alcohol and Reinkers in a Stampin' Spritzer.  You can make your own "Alcohol Inks!"  All you need is Alcohol (70%) and Reinkers in a Stampin Spritzer! The first was Island Indigo and Pacific Point.  I sprayed them onto a craft mat and swiped the cardstock through it.  (If you don't have a craft mat, you can use wax paper.) I then put some Crumb Cake and So Saffron reinkers directly onto the mat and swiped the cardstock through again.  The spaces were "filled in" by spraying a mixture of Alcohol and Baked Brown Sugar Reinker directly onto the card.  I sprayed the cardstock with water to blend the colors.  Next, I stamped the splatter from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set in Island Indigo Ink.  I stamped the script from By The Tide Stamp Set in Chocolate Chip Ink.  I stamped the "stripes" from Gorgeous Grunge in Baked Brown Sugar Ink.  Then – as if that wasn't ENOUGH – I embossed the Off The Grid Stamp in Gold Embossing Powder and Versamark Ink.
The corners are Island Indigo Cardstock passed through the Big Shot in the Beautifully Baroque Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The banners are Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake Seam Binding and Victoria Crochet Trim.  Clockworks is a GREAT Stamp Set to use when Collaging!  I embossed the pocket watch in Versamark Ink and Gold Embossing Powder and then stamped the Clock Face in Chocolate Chip Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I punched it out using the 1 1/4" Circle Punch. I then punched out a piece of Window Sheet and layered it on top.  The center is a Candy Dot Brad from the Neutrals Collection.  The Sentiment is from the Feel Goods Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo Ink and Embossed with Clear Embossing Powder.  It was then cut using the Circle Framelits and the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine.  The edges were sponged in Chocolate Chip Ink and the splatter is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar Ink.  I finished the card off with a Button from the Neutrals Collection and tied a little piece of Linen Thread.  The inside of the card is a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with the same splatter from Gorgeous Grunge in Baked Brown Sugar Ink.
