I resisted Art Journaling for a very long time. Once I started working in mine, I found it to be so relaxing and liberating. It’s Art for me! I am not creating it to give away, like a card – where I obsess over the details because someone else will be receiving it. These pages are just Paper Crafting for the joy of Making Art. Such fun! One of my favorite techniques is Alcohol and Archival Reinkers. (You can see a Card example HERE.) It didn’t translate exactly as I’d hoped but I liked it anyway.
I painted the pages with Multi Matte Medium and allowed them to dry.
I put a couple of drops of Cornflower Blue and Orange Blossom Archival Reinkers onto my Craft Mat and poured a little Rubbing Alcohol on top of them.
I mixed the Inks a little with the Alcohol.
After I smushed my pages into the inks and dried them, this is what was created.
I used Dyan Reavely’s Affirmation Stencil and Gold Embossing Paste, taping off the words I did not use with Painter’s Tape and applied the Embossing Paste through the Stencil.
I had to do the words in sections so I didn’t accidentally smear the Embossing Paste before it was fully dry.
While the Embossing Paste was still wet, I sprinkled Scattered Straw Distress Glitter on top of it.
I repeated the technique on Ranger’s Specialty Stamping Paper and then used TH Tag Framelits to cut them out.
I stamped Wendy Vecchi‘s “Life is Art” Stamp in Tree Branch Archival Ink and dyed Crinkle Ribbon in the same colors to tie through the Tags.
When the Embossing Paste was dry, I attached the first tag to the page with Foam Tape.
As luck would have it, I had the pleasure of attending TWO of Wendy Vecchi‘s all day classes!!! What a kind, creative soul! It was sheer relaxing bliss!
Wendy was kind enough to autograph the second tag for me. I attached it to the page with Foam Tape.
I learned so much! I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots more of Wendy Vecchi‘s Techniques, Stamps, Stencils, and spirit here in the coming weeks!
