Like "My boyfriend, Tim," Browns are my favorite colors. I know you know because you're here! I thought I'd break out the bright color Distress Stains for my Vintage Tag today with the Papillon Stamps. (I know I've been immersed in my Tim Holtz Tag haze this week! I'll be getting back to Cards tomorrow.) "Embrace Imperfection" is one of my favorite sentiments. I have to remind myself of that often so I decided to make a tag using that stamp. My new Plaquettes arrived so I had to put one on there as well. Are you a bright person or a brown person? Or both? Leave me a comment and let me know: Cards or Tags? Brights or Browns?
- Squeeze Tim Holtz Distress Stains onto a Craft Mat – Wild Honey, Peacock Feathers and Fired Bricks.
- Swipe a Manila Tag through the colors, spritz with water and swipe again. Heat set.
- Drop a few droplets of water onto the tag and heat set again.
- Swipe an Archival Black pad across the art stamp from Tim Holtz's Classics #4 and stamp as a background onto the tag.
- Line the Schoolhouse Layering Stencil over the tag and apply Picket Fence Distress Stain through the stencil using a Sponge Dauber.
- Using Black Archival Ink, Stamp "Embrace Imperfection" from the Spills & Splatters Stamp Set.
- Stamp the vertical Butterflies from the Papillon Stamp Set in Black Archival Ink.
- Using a Blending Tool, bring some Black Soot Distress Inks onto the perimeter of the tag.
- Attach a Plaquette to the tag.
- Attach a Compass Coin with a Game Spinner to the tag.
- Finish the bag of the tag by adhereing a black tag to the back of the manila tag.
- Squeeze the same color Distress Inks onto the Mat and lay a piece of Crinkle Ribbon onto the stains.
- Spritz the ribbon with water and crinkle and then heat set.
- Tie the ribbon through the hole in the tag.

I like both, it’s whatever I’m in the mood for, browns, brights cards and tags. It’s good to change things up…keeps things interesting. Vintage is my fave always. You keep it interesting so thanks for that Cathy.
Cathy your tag is beautiful!
I am always in a Tim haze!
I love distress!
Thanks, Ang! Me too! I tend to get into a groove and then I have to yank myself out of it! LOL! Thanks for your kind words. I really try to keep it fresh. 😀
Thanks, Donna! haha – me too. I’m such a groupie!
Glad you liked the tag.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Gorgeous tag Cathy! Wonderful mix of colors and stamps! Thanks for joining along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Thank you, Mona! I’m a huge fan! 😀
Just love that gorgeous background Cathy, it really has so much interest and colour blending and I love the composition created with the stamping and elements. So pleased you have brought another tag to share on A Vintage Journey.
hugs {brenda} x0x
PS I have to say I think I am mostly browns and tags, but when I reflect on what I have made lately I am a mix of colour too, I also like making cards (hint see the next challenge coming up).
Thank you, Brenda! I do like the colors too, even though I’m a brownie! haha. I do love cards so I’m looking forward to visiting next week! 🙂
Gorgeous Tag!!! Thanks so much for joining us at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog! – Ashli 🙂
Thank you, SoapHouseMama!
Your tag is totally fab!! The background colours are so beautifully blended and those butterflies and other elements finish it off to perfection. I love both browns and colours (as long as they are not too bright), tags are definitely much more my thing than cards, but hey, sometimes anyone needs a card right? (I often add tags to mine though) Thanks so much for joining us at a Vintage Journey with this one!
Thanks so much, Astrid!
I haven’t put any of my tags on my cards yet because I hate to cut them! LOL! I will have to try smaller tags!
😀
Thanks for stopping by!
