Today is DAY ONE of the Craft & Hobby Show where manufacturer’s introduce all the yummy goodness that they’ll be offering throughout the year. The samples are really incredible! I did my first ever live Periscope yesterday. It was a little raw and I totally forgot to title it – haha. I’m such a rookie! You can only watch the replay for 24 hours so hurry if you want to see it! You can find it HERE.
I’ll be doing another LIVE PERISCOPE from the show today at 3:30 pm (pacific time) which, as you know is 7:30 pm for you East Coasters 😉 So – follow me on Twitter @StampsAndScraps and Periscope and you can see an improved version where I’m not making you feel as if you’re on a bad carnival ride! LOL!
I will try to give you as many sneak peeks as I can! GIVE-AWAYS coming your way when I get back. One entry for every social media platform you follow of mine Facebook/Twitter/Instagram/YouTube/Periscope – but TEN for watching my PERISCOPE yesterday and TEN for watching it today! SO DO IT! 😉
I always considered myself “Craft Impaired.” After 20 years in the Crafting Industry, I guess that seems a little ridiculous but there are definitely some areas I am better at than others. Paper Crafting is really my forte but decorating my Holiday Table is something I truly enjoy.
I host the Annual Book Club Holiday Dinner and surprising everyone with the table is part of the fun. They are incredibly appreciative and usually love everything. LOL! The only problem is that they insist on cleaning up and washing my dishes after dinner. I’ve tried everything to convince them I’d rather spend time with them and will gladly clean up after they leave but…they still insist on doing it. So, I decided to use disposables this year. I bought clear, square dishes and dressed them up with Glitter Chargers. They were the hit of the night and the perfect simple, cheap idea for the Holiday Table so I wanted to share them with you as another “favorite item.”
I used red and green last year so I wanted to do gold and silver for this year’s holiday table. Here’s a close-up of the place setting. The chargers are heavy duty card stock but they look “expensive!”
I wrapped Glittery Ribbon around my Dining Room Chandelier along with a white and crystal garland. I used the same ribbon on the Burlap Cutlery Holder.
Burlap Cutlery Holders are very hot right now! They’re perfect for a Holiday Table but tend to be a little pricey (about $5 each). I needed to make them without sewing anything because that is not a skill I possess! Stamp Academy has a full Video Tutorial for these in their Holiday 2015 Online Class. Basically, I bought 4″ Wired Burlap Ribbon and hot glued the edges to create the pocket. I used a glittery ribbon wrapped around the pocket and hot glued that as well. You could just tie the ribbon so that you could change it depending upon the seasons.
I used Stampin’ Up!’s Poinsettia Punch to create the flower. For the paper, I printed a Christmas Song on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The leaves are Green Glitter Paper. I hot glued those onto the front but you’ll need to slip a piece of wax paper between the layers so that they don’t stick together. Just remove it once the glue cools. If you’re re-using the pockets, just hot glue a pin to the back of the flower so you can pin it to the front and change it as desired.
The Tablecloth was a White Damask with a Sheer Silver Runner down the center. I had Wine Charms made by Convertible Girl on Etsy. I gave her 12 of our favorite book titles and she created the charms. They’re adorable! Everyone loved them! They decided we should use them as ornaments on a tree for next year. 😉
The Candy Cane Easel Tutorial is HERE. The glasses and this cute Snowman Salt & Pepper Shaker were placed on top of a Silver Glitter Snowflake.
Overall, I was happy with the table! I hope you got a few Holiday Table Decorating Ideas! 😀 Check back tomorrow to see the Holiday Party Food & Fun!
I’ve wanted an Apothecary Chest for my Craft Room forEVER! I’ve actually been searching but they’re so expensive and I don’t really even have room for one – but, hey-when did that ever stop me. LOL I was actually shopping online for new chairs on Overstock – (which I love) – and I couldn’t help but do a quick little search just to see if they had one and I found this perfect little specimen!
I was so excited to make it my own that I totally forgot to take a before picture so here’s what it looked like when it arrived. (Sorry for the crummy photo but it’s midnight and dark here!)
Apparently, it is made by Doodlebug Designs and NO – I didn’t get paid to show this to you! I just love it so much and thought you might too. So – it fits under my cabinets and on top of my counter in my Craft Room. When I finish organizing, I’ll give you a tour.
So, let me tell you how smart these people are. The drawers are customizable which is awesome but…I would have used it without doing that. I would have totally meant to customize it but we both know that I would never have gotten around to it. So…they have the knobs on the inside of the drawers so you HAVE to undo them before you can use it. Genius!
You just unscrew the knob (with your fingers even – no screwdriver necessary). Then you peel off the protective layer on the plastic, cut a piece of patterned paper 4-1/2 x 4-1/2, put it behind the plastic, poke it with a paper piercer and put it back on the drawer front and screw the knob in.
Voilá! C’mon! How much do you love this! Here’s a close-up of one of the drawers. I might change them up with different papers eventually.
Nah! Who am I kidding? It’ll probably stay like this forever but, hey – I can if I want to and that’s all I need to know. haha. I’m still not sure exactly what I’m putting in here but there’s lots of room for all my crafting goodies. I’ll keep ya posted. I hope you like it. LMK if you have one or want one or what you’d do with one or two! haha!
The Craft & Hobby Association’s Mega Conference & Trade Show is one of my favorite events of the year! As a Blogger, it helps keep my finger on the pulse of what is new and relevant for the coming year. As a Crafter/Designer/Instructor, it provides a treasure trove of information on how best to use all of the new products that are introduced during the year as well as lots of tips and tricks from the experts who actually created those products! The good news is that I can then Share Them with YOU! And after all, for me, It’s always All About YOU! You truly are the reason for this blog!
Now…I’m not gonna lie…You know I love me my Tim! (aka: Tim Holtz, “My Boyfriend,” my Craft Crush, a Crafter Extraordinaire!) and being able to stalk him for DAYS is enough of a reason to attend! BUT…there really are so many talented people teaching classes on both the Art of Crafting and the Business side of Crafting.
Here’s a “Who’s Who” montage from last year. You can view the post HERE to check out some of the fun classes and projects.
Thanks so much for stopping by! 🙂
I know the holidays are crazy busy for most of you and coming up with card and gift ideas for teachers, friends and family members can be overwhelming. Don’t waste another minute trying to invent the wheel.
Each year, as a special Thank You to my Email Subscribers, I do a 12 Weeks of Christmas Series where each week, a new Holiday Project including measurements, directions and a supply list are emailed directly. There are cards, gifts and bags and tags to help you give gifts like a boss! 🙂

I know I’ve been a little MIA lately. I’ve been working feverishly on a new project and some personal development. I am a life long learner. For someone who did not love school, I do love to learn now. Conferences invigorate me! I just returned from 3 days of full immersion in business and self-improvement. I’ll be stamping again very soon but I wanted to share a quick Video I created regarding sharing 1 tip per day. It can be anything that someone might find valuable. The Chapter I wrote for the book “Champions: Knockout Strategies for Health, Wealth & Success” was Success As YOU Define it! This is a topic near and dear to my heart and one that I think many people – women especially – struggle with. I hope you find value in it.
Here’s a photo of the cover of the book. 🙂
Hugs,
Cathy
One of the best things about being an Empty Nester is having the time to spend with good friends. I’ve been blessed with valued friends I actually want to see more of. During the years my kids were in school, I had the privilege of working with some pretty extraordinary women on various PTA Boards and Committees. When my kids were graduating, I knew I’d miss spending time with some of them so I started a Book Club and invited them to join. It’s one of the highlights of my month!
They’re such amazing women and we’re going on our 5th year! Once a year, we get together for a Movie Night to watch a Movie of one of the books that we’ve read during the year. This year, it was Still Alice. I didn’t know what I was going to do so I headed to Pinterest and looked up “Movie Night.” Holy Cow! These Chicks go ALL OUT! There were lots of recipes and printables and ideas! Wow! So…I picked a few and went to town. My trusty Pizzeria Pronto Oven was perfect for the pre-movie Pizza. I made a few pies so we’d have something other than candy and popcorn to eat. LOL
I popped 40 cups of popcorn! I know that sounds like a crazy amount but it really isn’t. I found the adorable Popcorn boxes and Movie Themed Plates and Napkins on Amazon. (I’m obsessed with Amazon Prime – but that’s a story for another day!) I made Caramel Popcorn as the first step of this recipe for Zebra Caramel Corn. It was so freakin’ delicious that I made another 10 cups and started again ’cause I knew everyone would love it. So, after I baked the second batch, I let it cool and drizzled it with White Chocolate and Semi-Sweet Chocolate. OMG! You cannot even IMAGINE how delicious this is! It was GONE before the movie even started!
I used THIS Recipe for Caramel Popcorn Balls as a Party Favor (‘Cause that’s how we roll! LOL) and cut out the “Movie Tickets” and attached them to the bags.
All-in-all, it was a complete success but the Zebra Caramel Corn was really the hit of the night!
I hope you enjoyed a little window into my world. Thanks for stopping by! 😀
