Who doesn’t love winning?! I was thrilled to be the recipient of Wendy Vecchi’s Instagram Treats for my comment on her post about Ranger’s kitty mascot, Tripod. I received her new Stamp-It-Stencil It Stamp and Stencil Set AND the Add on Set too! SO much fun!
They’re so versatile with lots of sentiment options on each one! I wanted to send her a Thank You Card.
I’ve taken classes with the fabulous Wendy Vecchi and learned lots of great techniques. My absolute favorite is her Alcohol Background Technique so I thought I’d use that along with my new goodies to make her card.
I started with a few drops of Archival Ink – Tree Branch, Cornflower Blue and Orange Blossom – on my Craft Sheet. Poured a little Alcohol over them and moved them around a little using a palette knife.
I used a piece of Specialty Stamping Paper to pick up the ink and move it around on top of the card stock and then hit it with my heat gun. As the Alcohol evaporates, you get the most amazing effects! Each one is totally unique and you never know what you’re going to end up with. Sadly, it’s almost impossible to duplicate something you love but…
It is totally addicting! Be prepared to make a TON of them because you will not be able to help yourself!
They’re even gorgeous when you only use one color!
I stamped the image on top of one of the Alcohol Backgrounds and then used a Sponge Dauber with Archival Ink through the Stencil to create the “Thank You.” I cut it out and popped it up on top of another Alcohol Background.
I used the left-over ink on the craft sheet to dye a piece of Crinkle Ribbon and dried it with a heat gun. I tied a double bow using the EASY technique of weaving it through my fingers like THIS. Then, I adhered it to a piece of card stock, layered it onto a card and voilá!
If you love the Alcohol Background, you can see a few more projects here, here and here.
This Technique is really fabulous and so is the Stamp-It-Stencil-It Due and Add on! Thank you, Wendy! It will certainly come in handy with all those great sentiments!
