Simple Thank You Card with Metal

I'm Guest Designing at Pile It On today! If this is your first time here, WELCOME! I'm thrilled to have you! The Challenge is to use Add A Little Dazzle Metal. Easy for me 'cause that's one of my favorites! For this post, I wanted to make something simple. I created a Thank You Card but you could use it for any occasion! You can even make a pack of these with different greetings (or none at all) and tie it up with a bow for a great personal gift! Cut a piece of SU! Old Olive Cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". Score and fold at 4 1/4".
Run a piece of Add A Little Dazzle Wondrous White Craft Metal through the Big Shot in the SU! Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder. Attach to card front.
Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" and randomly stamp with Lily of the Valley Stamp from the SU! Simply Sketched Stamp Set onto it using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Use the Green Blendabilities (Alcohol Markers) to color in the leaves and a Spiga Glitter Pen to Glitter the flowers.
Wrap a ribbon around the front of the White Cardstock and secure in the back with Glue Dots. Attach cardstock to the front of the card.
Stamp the Lily of the Valley Stamp again – this time onto a 2" x 3 1/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock and color it the same way.
Run a 3 /8" x 2 1/8" piece of Wondrous White Metal Craft Sheet through the Big Shot in the Darice Basket Weave Embossing Folder. Layer the single White Cardstock piece on top and then layer both onto a 3 5/8" x 2 3/8" piece of Old Olive Cardstock. Adhere to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp "Thank You" from the SU! Express Yourself Stamp Set in Memento Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. Using the Bitty Banner Framelits, cut out the greeting. Ink the edges with Old Olive Ink and a Stampin' Sponge. Adhere to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.,

I wanted to show you the Embossed Metal so you can see how gorgeous it is! It gives such a rich texture the card that's not captured in the photo.

Enjoy the Journey Card

I've been procrastinating with my Glitter Card for the CC3C Challenge. They are so ridiculously talented over there that I'm a little intimidated! So, before it's too late, I created this Vintage/Shabby Chic Card. I hear from so many of you that you don't know how to create a Vintage Card using Distress Inks. You can do it! Here's an easy tutorial. Give it a try and, as Tim says: Embrace Imperfection and Enjoy the Journey!

The base card is Stampin' Up! Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock cut 4-1/4" x 8-1/2", scored and folded at 4-1/4".
A piece of Manila Cardstock was cut to 4" x 5-1/4".
TH Antique Linen, Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet Distress Inks were sponged onto the Manila Cardstock.

The edges of the card were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The "Spritz and Flick" Technique was used (with water) to create the droplets.

The TH Scrollwork Die was used to cut a strip of Chipboard. It was then inked with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

Attach Worn Lipstick Distress Glitter to the Scrollwork Chipboard piece according to page 56 of Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities III.

The piece was then inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a Blending Tool. **TIP: Instead of going back and forth into the ink pad from the glitter, smush the pad onto your craft sheet and pick the ink up from there. That will prevent the glitter from sticking to the ink pad.

Ink the Script Background Stamp from TH Papillon Stamp Set lightly in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and press in onto the Manila Cardstock first on the left side and then on the right.
Use Alcohol Markers to color the metal rose from TH Adornments.

Cut a piece of Manila Cardstock to 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". Cut the edge using the TH Torn Notebook Die.
Attach the glittered strip to the card front with a piece of Sticky Strip at the bottom.

Smush Distress Ink Pads onto your Craft Sheet – Antique LInen, Victorian Velvet and Spun Sugar.
Drag the Manila strip through the inks and Heat Set.

Ink the edges using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. (Be careful around the top.)

Ink "Enjoy the Journey" Stamp from the TH Random Quotes Stamp Set – **TIP: To emboss using the Distress Ink, Ink the stamp in Versamark Ink first and then tap it onto the Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad – and then stamp it directly onto the Manila Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.

Use the same Distress Ink Pads to color Crinkle Ribbon and tie a bow. Attach to the "tag" using a Glue Dot.
Cut the backing from a TH Accoutrements-Fanciful Button and attach to the "tag" with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Slip the "tag" under the glittered strip and place a couple of Glue Dots under the remaining corners to secure it, if desired.
Attach the metal rose to the card front using Crystal Effects or Glossy Accents.

Die Cut and Watercolor Card

Lately, I've become fascinated with cameras! You've been seeing them in all of my photos. Now, they're appearing on my cards too! LOL! This card was designed for the die cut Challenge at Scrapbooker PhD. I wanted a Clean and Simple Card 'cause I've been down and dirty lately so I wanted to change it up a little.

The TH Camera was die cut in Basic Black Cardstock and Brushed Silver Cardstock. The Silver pieces were cut and placed on top of the camera and then the whole die cut was covered in Crystal Effects.

Father’s Day Card with Craft Metal

Father's Day is rapidly approaching! I feel like it was yesterday that we were complaining about the snow! I have been playing with Stampin' Up!'s Blue Ribbon Stamp Set for Graduation Cards and decided it was a good one for Father's Day as well. Cut a piece of Stampin' Up! Basic Black Cardstock 4 1/4" x 11". Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Use the SU! Houndstooth Embossing Folder and the Big Shot to emboss a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Add A Little Dazzle Ocean Blue Craft Metal.
Tap a Jet Black Stazon Ink Pad over the top of only the raised portions of the embossed metal. Attach to the card front with Sticky Strip.
Stamp the Blue Ribbon Stamp from the SU! Blue Ribbon Stamp Set in Versamark Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock. Emboss with Black Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.
Stamp "Best" from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set in Pacific Point Ink onto Whisper White Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Punch out using the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. Adhere to the center of the black embossed image with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Stamp just the ribbon portion of the Blue Ribbon Stamp from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set in Jet Black Stazon Ink onto a scrap of Ocean Blue Craft Metal and carefully cut it out. Adhere over the "ribbon" on the black embossed version.
Adhere the entire Blue Ribbon image to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Attach "D-A-D" Tim Holtz Alpha Tiles to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Attach a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock to the inside of the card.

Graduation Card with Metal

I love Graduations! The music gets me every time! It is such a phenomenal accomplishment! My daughter Graduated from College last week and my son Graduated from Graduate School with his MBA. I've been making cards like crazy! This is a Masculine card using Add A Little Dazzle Craft Metal. I really like the way it turned out and I hope you do too! 🙂

Remember the Now Tag

Remember the Now Tag – I find it so easy to design using tags because they're so manageable – spacewise. This is an oversized tag and I really enjoyed using it. I found them at the Funky Junkie Boutique (Use the coupon code stockup4summer (from 5/16-5/22) and get an extra 10% off) and they were wrapped in corrugated paper for shipping which was almost better than the tags themselves! LOL Not to let anything go to waste, I used it under the greeting with Embossing Paste. The Challenge was to create a project with mostly left-overs. The Tag was new but the embellishments have been hanging around for quite a while. haha

I started with Distress Stains – Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs and Vintage Photo. Swiped some on my Craft Sheet, spritzed with water and swiped the tag through it.

That created the beginning of a background.

I added some inks (same colors but in Distress INKS).

After I dried the tag, I did the Spritz and Flick Technique to create water droplets on the tag and then Heat Set again.

Next, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the TH Crocodile Stencil. How much do you love that!

I inked the Corrugated Paper with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and inked the script from Random Quotes in Archival Black Ink and stamped it as a background. The edges of the tag were inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I used Dreamweaver's Gold Embossing Paste over the piece of Corrugated Paper and allowed to dry. "Remember the Now" from TH Random Quotes was Stamped in Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. The edges were inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I inked over the Gold Embossing Paste with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and attached the sentiment on top. It was adhered to the tag with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This Memory Key has been in my stash for a loooooong time! It's beautiful but too big for most of my projects so I have a few of them left over from the Idea-ology Keys. I knew it would work with the oversized tag. I attached it to the ribbon with an Idea-ology piece that I also love but never know quite what to do with!

I die cut one of Tim's Cameras from Basic Black Cardstock and colored a couple of parts with a Silver Marker. It was attached to the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals. The lens actually pops forward if you put a couple extra Stampin' Dimensionals underneath it.

You can see a piece of Film Strip underneath the camera. I always have strips of that cut on my desk because I usually attempt to put it on everything and then realize I put it on everything. LOL. The Crinkle Ribbon was dyed using the same color Distress Stains.

This photo was taken of the tag before I added the Die Cut Camera. I wasn't sure if it was "over the top" with the die cut. You can see the Camera Stamp from the Mini Blueprints Stamp Set. I loved that stamp set when I bought it but I find that I rarely use it. I finished the tag with an Ideal-ology Corner.

Art Journal Pages 7 and 8

If you are a frequent blog visitor, you know my favorite colors are beiges and browns. I struggle to create in other colors. This is especially evident in my Art Journal! I am forcing myself to use different colors! As a result, these pages are not my favorites. LOL – I'm showing them here because I have a Stamping Friend who always tells me she can "never" do Vintage/Distress. Things don't always turn out the way I'd like but I'm trying to remember Art Journaling is truly a Journey! So, like Nike says: "Just DO IT!"

These pages were created using Tim Holtz Tissue Tape and Distress Paints. To create the background, I put pieces of Tissue Tape randomly across both pages. Next, I "smushed" Seedless Preserves, Broken China, Picket Fence and Brushed Pewter Distress Paints onto a Craft Sheet, spritzed them with water and smushed the pages into the ink. Then, dried with a Heat Tool. Broken China and Pumice Stone Distress Inks were added to the pages for additional color. The edges were inked with Black Soot Distress Ink.

"Leave Ordinary Behind" (from TH Random Quotes Stamp Set) was stamped in SU! Basic Gray Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. The Script stamp from TH Classics #16 Stamp Set was inked in Archival Black Ink and pressed in different spots on the pages. An Idea-Ology Compass Coin, Spinner and Key Hole were attached to the pages with Glue Dots.

"Remember the Now" was stamped in Archival Black Ink. The Corner Stamp from TH Classics #16 Stamp Set was stamped in the lower left and right pages using Archival Black Ink that was rubbed onto the stamp to create a second-generation look. An Idea-Ology Pen Nib was added to the page with Glue Dots.

Masculine Thank You Card

I'm so thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Crafting By Designs today! I wanted to make a Masculine Card for you because many of you tell me that you struggle with them sometimes. It's a balance of making them decorative but still masculine. Craft Metal always works especially well for that purpose. The (TH) Compass Set Texture Fade was used with Midnight Madness Craft Metal to create the background and Brushed Bronze Metal was used behind the ledger piece. Burlap and Canvas always give a cool rugged feel to any masculine card.

Cut a piece of Stampin' Up! Early Espresso Cardstock 4-1/4" x 11". Score and fold at 5-1/2". Distress the edges with a Distress Tool.
Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock 4-1/8" x 5-3/8". Distress the edges and sponge with (SU!) Chocolate Chip Ink.
Put a piece of Add A Little Dazzle Midnight Blue Craft Metal into the Tim Holtz Compass Set Texture Fade Embossing Folder and run it through the Big Shot. Adhere to the Very Vanilla Distressed piece of cardstock.
Rub Antique Gold Rubbing Wax over the raised portions of the craft metal. Leave a couple of marks here and there to add to the distressed feel.
Wrap a piece of Canvas/Burlap Ribbon around the metal and adhere behind the cardstock. Attach the whole piece to the card front.
Stamp the ledger from (SU!) The Open Sea Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar Ink onto a 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Distress the edges and sponge with Chocolate Chip Ink.
Put a 3-1/2" x 2-1/2" piece of (AALD) Brushed Bronze Craft Metal through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
Adhere the ledger piece to the Brushed Bronze Craft Metal piece and attach to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Ink the Ship from The Open Sea Stamp Set with Baked Brown Sugar Ink on top and Island Indigo Ink on the Bottom (where the water would be). Emboss with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. Fussy cut the ship with Scissors and attach to the ledger/metal piece with Stampin' Dimesionals.
Stamp "Sending Many Thanks" from the (SU!) Petite Pairs Stamp Set in Mdnight Muse Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Banner Cut the edge using a 1" Square Punch or Scissors and attach to a piece of Midnight Blue Craft Metal. Banner Cut the edge of the metal and adhere to the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Use (TH) Distress Paints (Rusty Hinge, Evergreen Bough and Mowed Lawn) to distress an Idea-Ology Compass Coin and attach to the Ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock 4" x 5-1/4" and attach to the inside of the card.
Stamp the anchor from The Open Sea Stamp Set in Baked Brown Sugar Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. Fussy Cut it and attach to the inside of the card with Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.

Thinking of You Card with Paper Flowers and Circles

Monday…Back to Reality. LOL! Today's Thinking of You Card has a pop of Red with the Paper Flower (See Videos HERE), lots of Poka Dots, Circles and Rhinestones

Cut a piece of SU! Basic Black Cardstock to 4-1/4" x 11". Score and fold at 5-1/2".
Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock to 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" and run through the Big Shot in a Polka Dot Embossing Folder.
Cut a piece of Black and Vanilla Polka Dot Patterned Paper using the Large Scallop Edgelit Die. This paper is from SU! Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. Attach to the Vanilla Piece.
Adhere the Vanilla/Polka Dot piece to the card front.
Using a 1-3/8" Circle Punch, punch out 4 circles using two different polka dot patterns from Modern Medley DSP.
Cut 4 circles from Basic Black Cardstock using the #8 Circle from the Circle Framelits Dies (counting outside to inside.)
Layer the DSP circles onto the cardstock circles and then attach them to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

This flower was created using the Blossom Flower Punch and Real Red Cardstock.
3 Flowers were punched, separated using the Faux Suede Technique, spritzed with Vanilla Smooch Spritz and then hole punched with a Paper Piercing Tool. A Silver Mini Brad was used to attach all the pieces together. They were scrunched and then a Zig Stella Glitter Pen was used to add a touch of glitter to the edges of the flower. It was attached to one of the circles with Glue Dots.

"Thinking of You" from the Express Yourself Stamp Set was stamped in Real Red Ink onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool.
The edge was banner cut using a Hexagon Punch. (You could use a square punch or scissors as well)
It was layered onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock – which was then banner cut.
The entire sentiment piece was then adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

3 Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the upper left corner of the card.
A strip of small Rhinestone Basic Jewels was adhered to the left of the sentiment.
Small Rhinestone Basic Jewels were adhered to the polka dots in one of the circles.
A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock was attahed to the inside of the card.
