Ombre Technique With Metal Craft Sheets

Today’s Dazzling Diva Design Challenge was the Ombre Technique. (See inspiration photo below.) I wanted to use Add A Little Dazzle Craft Metal Sheets to do the technique. I also like to incorporate several challenges into my cards, if possible. This one qualified for several – Yay! I will be posting a video tutorial tomorrow. Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to be notified when it posts. 🙂

Cut a piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock (#102128) at 5″ x 10″.
Score and fold at 5″.
Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (#101650) at 4-7/8″ x 4-7/8″.
Cut a piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock at 2″ x 4-7/8″.
Cut a piece of Dark Chocolate Craft Metal Sheet at 2″ x 4-7/8″.
Cut a piece of Precious Pearl Craft Metal Sheet at 2″ x 4-7/8″.
Emboss each of the three pieces of 2″ x 4-7/8″ using the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder (#130917) and the Big Shot (#113439).
Using Sticky Strip (#104294), attach the three pieces onto the Very Vanilla Cardstock, overlapping them.
Adhere a piece of Very Vanilla Seam Binding (#120999) to the front of the piece you just created – attaching it behind the cardstock using Glue Dots (#103683).
Tie a double bow using the Very Vanilla Seam Binding and attach to the card with Glue Dots.
If desired, “ruffle” the ribbon using Glue Dots.
Attach the entire card front to the Chocolate Chip Card using Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430).
Stamp “A million & one Thanks” from the Million & One Stamp Set (wood #126375/clear #126377) in Chocolate Chip Ink (#126979) onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder (#109130) and a Heat Tool (#129053).
Cut out the greeting using the #4 Window Frames Framelit Die (#129021) (numbering from outside to inside).
Cut a piece of Chocolate Chip Cardstock using the #4 Window Frame Framelit Die. Cut that piece in half diagonally and reattach it behind the greeting to create a slight border.
Attach the greeting to the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Decorate the corners of the greeting with four of the smallest Pearl Basic Jewels (#119247).
Add one Large Pearl Basic Jewel (#125577) to the corner of the card.
Attach a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock to the inside of the card.

Masculine Get Well Card

Sadly, I am in need of another Get Well Card. 🙁 I wanted this one to be a more Masculine Card so I stuck with darker colors and a Linen "bow" but used a pop of Red for the greeting. My trusty Embossing Folders provide texture. Details are below. All supplies are Stampin' Up! and can be found in my ONLINE STORE.

Cut Midnight Muse Cardstock (#126843) at 4 1/4" x 11".
Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Adhere a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Newsprint Designer Series Paper to the card front.
Cut Midnight Muse Cardstock at 2 3/4" x 5 1/4". Run through Big Shot (#113439) in the Argyle Textured Impressions Folder (#127750). Round the two outside corners using a Corner Rounder Punch (#119871). Adhere to the left side of the card front.
Use the #4 Square Framelit (#130921) to cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock (#101650) and a piece of Midnight Muse Cardstock. Run them through the Big Shot in the Chevron Embossing Folder (#127749). Cut both pieces in half and reassemble onto a square of cardstock. Round the edges with the Corner Rounder Punch.
Cut a smaller square of Newsprint Designer Series Paper. Round the corners. Adhere to the Chevron piece of cardstock and attach to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).
Stamp "Get Well" in Rose Red Ink (#126954) and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder (#109130) and a Heat Tool (#129053). Cut the cardstock, round the corners and attach to the Newsprint square.
Punch out a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock using the 1" square punch (#124094). Round the corners and run through the Big Shot in the Chevron Embossing Folder. Sponge the edges with a Sponge Dauber (#102892) and Midnight Muse Ink (#126860).
Adhere to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals (Stack 3 on top of each other.)
Attach a piece of Chevron Ribbon (#132982) to the card front.
Tie Linen Thread (#104199) through a Basic Metal Button (#133319) and attach to the card front with Glue Dots (#103683).
Tie a piece of Linen Thread into a bow and attach to the card front with a Glue Dot. Attach a Silver Brad to the center of the bow.
Glue the Thread in various places using tiny drops of Crystal Effects (#101055).
Attach a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock to the inside of the card.

March Tags

One of the things I love about the beginning of a new month is participating in Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014. For this month, his tags illustrate Smudge Stamping. It's a subtle change in the stamped image but it creates a softer look. These tags are first and second generation stamping of the same images. All Supplies are Tim Holtz unless otherwise noted.

To begin, I stamped the pear from Tim Holtz's Classics #1 Stamp Set (my favorite!) in Walnut Stain Distress Ink onto a manila tag. I stamped it again onto another tag and immediately smudged both images with a clean foam blending tool.

Next, I inked the butterflies from the Papillon Stamp Set in Wild Honey, Dusty Concord and Chipped Saphire Distress Inks and stamped them onto the tags. I smudged the image again.

I taped the Burlap Layering Stencil over the tag and used a Pumice Stone Distress Marker and the Spritzing Tool to create a design on all of the empty space on the tags.

I didn't have a lot of distress markers so I used the Ink pads and a Stampin' Up! BlenderPen to color in the pear. I stamped "Voyage" in Broken China Distress Ink and smudged it. The edges of the tags were inked using Walnut Stain and a Blending Tool.

I used the Spritz and Flick Technique to create water droplets on the tags. It's ridiculous how happy those little spots make me! I can hear Tim saying: "Look-a-that!" every time I do it! LOL

This is the first generation stamped tag.

This is the lighter version. (I know my coloring needs lots of help!)

The Idea-ology Word Bands were distressed by covering them with Weathered Wood Distress Paint and then wiping off the excess – leaving the paint in the grooves.

They were then attached to the tags using a Tiny Attacher. The "Figs" are from Botanical Remnant Rubs. Next, Cording was wrapped around the bottom of each tag and tied in a knot. Tissue Tape was attached and then sponged with Walnut Ink and a Blending Tool. A little piece of Filmstrip was stapled to the tag using the Tiny Attacher. Crinkle Ribbon was dyed using Weathered Wood Distress Stain and attached to the top of the tags.

Thank you for Magazine Mondays

I'm sure you've noticed how much I'm loving the Gold! That probably would have been a great Olympics post LOL! This Thank You card was created for the Magazine Mondays Challenge where you had to include part of a magazine page. The gold leaf was cut from a page in People Magazine.

Cut Whisper White Cardstock (#100730) at 4 1/4" x 11".
Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock at 4" x 5 1/4". Layer a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (#133363) (striped pattern) 4" x 5 1/4" on top and wrap a piece of White Organza Ribbon (#114319) around the back securing with Glue Dots (#103683).
Wrap a piece of Gold Sequin Trim (#133363) over the White Organza Ribbon and secure around the back using Glue Dots.
Adhere the cardstock piece on top of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430)
Using a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock, Stamp "Thank You" from the Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set (#133454) and emboss with Gold Embossing Powder (#109129) and a Heat Tool (#129053). Banner Cut the cardstock.
Layer the greeting onto a piece of Gold Foil Sheet (#132622) with Stampin' Dimensionals and banner cut. Adhere to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Cut the gold leaf from the magazine page and adhere to Whisper White Cardstock using SNAIL Adhesive (#104332/104331). Attach to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Embossing Folder and Metal Card

Being on the Design Team for the Dazzling Diva Design Challenge at Add A Little Dazzle gives me a good reason to use Meta Craft Sheets in my projects. I really enjoy Metal Craft Sheets. They always give an elegant touch to your projects. For this card, we had to use the inspirational photo below. Honestly, nothing about the photo appealed to me at first. I'm not a huge "green" lover so I decided to just use a touch of it on my card. For the flowers, I used the Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder and a piece of Precious Pearl Metal Craft Sheet.

Cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz Cardstock (#131201) at 4 1/4" x 11".
Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Run a piece of Precious Pearl Metal Craft Sheet through the Big Shot (#113439) in the Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder (#129376).
Use Ranger Perfect Pearls – Aged Patina to paint Green Stems and Gold Flowers on the metal by using a little bit of water and a paint brush. Heat set to dry.
Adhere the Precious Pearl Metal Sheet to a piece of Gold Foil Sheet (#132622). Adhere entire piece to the right front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).

Wrap a piece of 5/8" Victoria Crochet Trim Ribbon (#118481) around the left front of the card and adhere to itself using Glue Dots (#103683).
Tie a double bow using Victoria Crochet Trim Ribbon (See a quick VIDEO on How To Use Your Fingers To Create a Double Bow HERE) and adhere to the top of the ribbon using Glue Dots.
Stamp "For You" from the A Round Array Stamp Set (Wood #129807, Clear #129090) in Versamark Ink (#102283) onto Very Vanilla Cardstock (#101650) and emboss using Gold Embossing Powder (#109129) and a Heat Tool (#129053).
Punch out using the 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch (#129404).
Sponge the edges using Pear Pizzazz Ink (#131180) and a Sponge Dauber (#102892). Adhere to the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.
Embellish the bottom of the card with a Large Pearl Basic Jewel (#125577).
Adhere a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock to the inside of the card.

Another Tim Holtz Tag for February 2014

Many of you know how much I love Tim Holtz and Distress Inks! (It's a full-on obsession.) I participate in his 12 Tags of 2014. I really enjoy making Distressed Tags. Last month, I submitted two tags – THIS ONE and then THIS ONE. The second was chosen as one of Tim's Top Tags for the Month! I was beyond thrilled! For February, I submitted THIS TAG... but now…I just can't help myself…I needed to submit another. LOL

Start with a Manila Tag. Put some Distress Stains on a Craft Sheet. This tag uses Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap and Milled Lavender. Swipe the tag through the inks and spritz with water to blend them. Heat the tag to dry it completely.
Use a Layering Stencil (this one is Schoolhouse) and sponge through using three different Distress Inks to create an Ombre Look. For this tag, I used: Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet and Dusty Concord and applied them through the Stencil using a Blending Tool.
Immediately pour Clear Embossing Powder over the entire tag and heat set.

Use Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a Blending Tool to darken the edges of the tag.
Use a patterned Reinforcer in matching colors for extra effect.

Die cut a heart (Stampin' Up! Hearts-A-Flutter Framelit Dies) and color it using Dusty Concord Distress Ink and Blending Tool.
Cover the heart with Crystal Effects or Glossy Accents. Then, cover it with Rock Candy Distress Glitter. Allow to dry completely and then adhere to the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Use a border from Tim Holtz Industrious Stickers for the bottom of the tag and a little arrow to decorate the front of the tag.

Stamp Tim Holtz's "Courage…" in Embossing Ink onto Basic Black Cardstock and pour Embossing Antiquities on top. Heat Set. When dry, run a piece of Chalk across the words to create a Chalkboard Effect.
Mount that Black Cardstock on a piece of White Cardstock – leaving a 1/16" border. Attach to the tag using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Use the same color Distress Stains on a Craft Mat and spritz Crinkle Ribbon with water. Run it through the stains, crinkle it and heat set. Attach to the tag.
Finish the tag with Idea-Ology Trinkets.

Another Thank You

My Dad always used to say that people are terribly under-appreciated. He was so thoughtful about bringing little gifts to people who would never have expected it and I loved seeing their faces light up. That's a habit that has carried through the generations. We all do it now. Whether it's a card or a tray of cookies – we love to surprise people just to let them know they are appreciated.

For this challenge, I though I'd combine the Ombre Techique (so hot right now!) with Watercoloring (SO easy!). All supplies are Stampin' Up! and can be found in my ONLINE STORE.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (#100730) 3 1/2" x 11".
Score at 5 1/2".
Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 3 3/8" x 5 1/8". Use Wisteria Wonder Reinker (#122931), Perfect Plum Reinker (#102107), and Elegant Eggplant Reinker (#105222). Put a drop or two of each in the tray of the corresponding Ink Pad tray. Use an Aqua Painter (#132967) to pick up a drop of the reinker and swipe across the bottom of the cardstock working light to dark.
Take a strip of Whisper White Cardstock and pass it through the Big Shot ((#113439) in the Decorative Dots FREE Sale-A-Bration Embossing Folder (#133520) and attach to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).
Stamp "Thank You So Much" from Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set (#133454) by lining up the individual stamps on a clear block and using the matching markers to imitate the Ombre Technique when inking – just swipe the markers across the stamps from light to dark, huff on the stamp and then stamp it onto Whisper White Cardstock.
Use the 2 1/2" Circle Punch (#120906) to cut out the greeting
Using the #6 Circle Framelit Die (#130911), cut out a piece of Perfect Plum Cardstock (#101889).
Use the #3 Starburst Framelit Die (#132967) to cut out a piece of Wisteria Wonder Cardstock (#122922).
Layer the greeting on the circle and then onto the starburst. Adhere to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Spray the card with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz Spray (#118772).
Attach a Large Rhinestone (#129324) to the upper right corner of the card.

Perfect Pennants Card

Today's challenge was "Punch Art." I don't know if this would ever be referred to as punch art, but that's not my forte. I love the bright colors because it reminds me that there will come a day – soon I hope – that it looks bright and cheery outside instead of snow, snow, SNOW! The Perfect Pennants Stamp Set has a bunch of greetings that I really like so I chose "Sending Good Thoughts Your Way" as the focal point of my card.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (#100730) in half at 4 1/4 x 11".
Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Put a piece of Whisper White Cardstock through the Big Shot (#113439) in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (#117335).
Adhere to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).
Use the Bitty Butterfly Punch (#129406) to punch out six butterflies. Two in Melon Mambo Cardstock (#115320), two in Wild Wasabi Cardstock (#108641), and two in Tangerine Tango Cardstock (#111349).
Run one of each through the Big Shot in the Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder (#130917) and one of each in the Decorative Dots FREE Sale-A-Bration Embossing Folder (#133520).
Stamp "Sending Good Thoughts Your Way" from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set (Clear #133230) in Melon Mambo Ink (#126948) onto Whisper White Cardstock. Cut it into a rectangle with very little white space around. Then, run it through the Big Shot with one of the Chalk Talk Framelits (#129983) so that the top and bottom are cut out.
Cut out a piece of Melon Mambo Cardstock using the same Chalk Talk Framelit. Adhere the Greeting to the Melon Mambo Piece and then attach to the center of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Adhere the butterflies to the card front using a Glue Dot (#103683) in the center each one. Bend the wings up a little.
Adhere 3 Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#119246) to each butterly.
Adhere 3 Large Rhinestones (#129324) to the bottom of the card front.

Gold Cheer Card

Cheerleaders will always have a special place in my heart. My daughter was a Cheerleader from 3rd or 4th grade until halfway through College. She was Captain of a few teams which gave me the luxury of having her awesome teammates over for Pizza on a regular basis. Once a Cheer Mom, Always a Cheer Mom. It was always lots of fun and we traveled up and down the East Coast going to competitions. Today's challenge was "Jump" which was really difficult for me! I couldn't think of what I wanted to do so I went to my Retired Stamps Closet and dragged out the Cheerleaders! It was a nice walk down memory lane. 🙂

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (#100730) to 4 1/4" x 11". Score and fold at 5 1/2"
Layer a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Vellum (#133363) on top making sure to place the adhesive behind the gold dots so it won't show through.
Stamp the Cheerleader from "It's a Cheer Thing Stamp Set" in Jet Black Stazon Ink (#) onto a 1 7/8" x 2 3/4" piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Color the cheerleader with Blush Blossom Marker and a Blender Pen (#). Color the uniform with a Basic Black Marker and a Gold Marker. Use Chocolate Chip Marker for her hair and Black and Gold Markers for the bow and sneakers.
For the pom-poms, use a Versamarker to color in the cirlces and immediately emboss with Gold Embossing Powder (#109129) and a Heat Tool (#129053).
Layer the piece of cardstock with the Cheerleader onto a 3" x 2 1/8" piece of Gold Foil Sheet (132622).
Layer that whole piece onto the cardfront using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).

Gold Sympathy Card

I have a hard time creating Sympathy Cards. If they're elaborate, I worry that maybe it's not appropriate. If it's too simple, I worry that the recipient will feel I wasn't trying hard enough. It's a dilemma for every one I make. Today's card is, kinda, simple – but definitely not boring. I love all the metallics that are in vogue right now.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (#100730) to 4 1/4" x 11". Score and fold at 5 1/2".
Layer a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (#133363) putting adhesive behind the gold dots on the vellum so it won't show through.
Put a piece of Gold Foil Sheet (132622) through the Big Shot (#113439) in the Striped Embossing Folder (#123128).
Layer it onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and adhere to the front of the card.
Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" and layer a piece of 4 1/8" x 2 3/8" Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum (#133363) on top. Adhere to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).
Stamp "Sending Love and Sympathy" from the Love & Sympathy Stamp Set (Clear #122797) in Versamark Ink (#102283) onto a piece of 2" x 2 3/4" of Whisper White Cardstock and emboss using Gold Embossing Powder (#109129) and a Heat Tool (#129053).
Punch out the sentiment using the Decorative Label Punch (#120907).
Punch out a piece of Gold Foil Sheet using the Decorative Label Punch. Cut it diagonally and reassemble it behind the sentiment so that it borders it. Attach to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Embellish the bottom with a Designer Vintage Faceted Button (#127555) adhered with Glue Dots (#103683). Put a Rhinestone Basic Jewel (#119246) in the center.
