Distress Ink Halloween Card

For this week’s challenge at Scrapbooker PhD, we had to make a Halloween Card using a sentiment besides “Happy Halloween.” I’m not a huge Halloween lover but I do love Distress Inks! When creating Halloween Cards – or any cards for that matter – make sure to decorate the inside of your card for a cohesive look.

My favorite part of this card is the “moon.” After finishing the card, I felt it needed a little something so I used a Circle Stamp dipped into Picket Fence Distress Stain and then used my finger to “paint” Wild Honey Distress Stain and Brushed Pewter Distress Stain over it until it looked like a moon.

Napkin Ring with Leaves

Fall is my favorite time of year! In our family, when you get married, you are given a Holiday and the whole family (it’s a BIG one!) comes to your house every year to celebrate that holiday. Thanksgiving has been my holiday for the past (almost) 30 years and I love it! When I saw the beautiful Leaf Stamps and matching Leaf Die Cuts, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them. Craft Metal Leaves Napkin Ring with Give Thanks

The actual Napkin Ring was created using a strip of Dark Chocolate Metal that was run through the Big Shot in a Woodgrain Embossing Folder and then secured using Sticky Strip. The leaves and ribbon were then adhered on top of it. The Double Bow was created using the “How To Create a Double Bow using your Fingers” Technique – View the Video HERE. Metal Napkin Ring

I think the funky Aged Copper Embossing Tinsel just makes the design!

Vintage Celebration Card

Each time I use these colors, I remember that Pink and Chocolate is my favorite color combination. I’m not much of a “Girly-Girl” but I love flowers on my cards – especially Vintage Shabby Chic Cards. I am combining challenges from some of my favorite sites. CC3C’s Challenge #11 refers to Tim Holtz‘s Compendium of Curiosities Book Page 52 – Effect Powders. (They even have a $50 prize from Inspiration Emporium!) SSS asks for my favorite technique and Distressing is definitely my favorite Technique. I made sure this one was very distressed and sponged to make it look older. Vintage Shabby Chic Celebration Card

The base card is SU! Chocolate Chip Cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″ – Scored and folded at 4-1/4″
The next layer is Chocolate Chip Cardstock 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ with TH Kraft Cardstock 2-1/2″ x 4-1/8″ and Mulberry Paper 3-1/4″ x 4-1/8″. All edges were distressed using a Distressing Tool and sponged with SU! Chocolate Chip Ink and a Stampin’ Sponge.
The heart is SU! Blushing Bride Cardstock cut with a Heart Framelit and embossed with TH French Script Texture Fade Embossing Folder. The edges were distressed and sponged with Chocolate Chip Ink.
The Eiffel Tower from TH French Flight Stamp Set was stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink and embossed with Vintage Photo Distress Embossing Powder. It was cut using the matching Framelit and then sponged using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The edges were sponged with Chocolate Chip Ink.
“Celebrate” from the Good Greetings Stamp Set was stamped onto SU! Very Vanilla Cardstock using Chocolate Chip Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. It was cut out using the SU! Bitty Banner Framelits and attached to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The 5/8″ Flower Trim was sponged with Blushing Bride Ink and adhered with Glue Dots.

Vintage Shabby Chic Celebration Card Flat

Chocolate Chip Seam Binding was attached to the card front. A Double Bow was tied using the “How to Tie a Double Bow using your Fingers Technique” (You can see a Video HERE.) and attached to the card front with Glue Dots. A piece of Flower Trim was attached to the center of the bow.
The Rusted Embellishment in the upper left corner was created using the Effect Powder Technique on Page 52 of Tim Holtz’s Compendium of Curiosities Volume III.
3 Pearl Basic Jewels were colored with a Chocolate Chip Alcohol Marker and attached to the card front.
All layers were attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
A 4″ X 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock was sponged with Chocolate Chip Ink and attached to the inside of the card.

Grateful Card with Leaves and Craft Metal

I love that the weather is moving toward the fall! I love, love, love the fall! I’m going to try not to put leaves on everything until winter but I’m not making any promises. LOL! This card uses a couple of different techniques – Embossed Craft Metal, Alcohol Ink Background, and Distress Ink Background.

Ranger Alcohol Inks were used on Glossy card stock to create the background.

Dark Chocolate Craft Metal was passed through the Big Shot in SU!’s Woodgrain Embossing Folder.

A background was created using Distress Inks. The leaves were created by using leaf die cuts to cut out the leaves from the background. They’re attached to the card using Glue Dots.

The background stamp from SU! For All Things Stamp Set was stamped in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink onto Glossy card stock. “Grateful for you” was stamped over it in Early Espresso Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool. It was popped up onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals

SSS Thinking of You Masculine Card

Simple doesn’t necessarily have to be “Clean and Simple.” I tried – really, I did – but I had to sponge over the embossing because it wanted to be noticed. 😉

SSS Thinking of You Card Side

The base card is SU! Whisper White card stock 4-1/4″ x 11″ – Scored and folded at 5-1/2″.
The next layer is 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ SU! Night of Navy card stock embossed with TH Airmail Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.
The Whisper White layer was embossed with the same Embossing Folder and then a Sponge Dauber with Night of Navy Ink was gently swiped over just the raised portions of the embossing.
A 2-1/8″ x 3-3/4″ piece of Night of Navy card stock was layered onto a 3-7/8″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Silver Craft Metal.
Two strips of Whisper White card stock embossed with a TH Checkerboard Embossing Folder were adhered to the Night of Navy card stock piece. Night of Navy Ink was sponged over the embossing in the same way.
A 1/8″ Silver Ribbon was attached to the front of the small piece and adhered behind with Glue Dots.
A Silver Button was adhered over the ribbon with Glue Dots. A small bow was adhered to the center of the button with Glue Dots.

SSS Thinking of You Card Flat

“Thinking of You” was cut from a Simon Says Stamp Steel Ruled Die from Silver Craft Metal and adhered to the card front with Crystal Effects.
Rhinestone Basic Jewels were used to dot both of the “i” letters in the word “thinking.
“Blue Patina Perfect Pearls Glimmer Mist was sprayed over the entire card front.

Distress Stain Watercolor Birthday Cards

Family is everything. Few would argue that point. One year ago, these little precious angels were born! What a scare they gave us! They were preemies and spent months in the NICU. When they finally came home, they had to wear monitors that went off every day to signal that they had stopped breathing! Today, thank God, we celebrate their FIRST BIRTHDAY! They are my Great Nephews (my sister’s Grandchildren) and currently the only babies in our family so we are all obsessed with them! LOL! I created two very similar cards for them using Distress Inks and Stains. The tutorial is below. Enjoy! 😀 Click here to subscribe to my mailing list for exclusive samples.

I started with Distress Stains in different shades of blue. I sprayed Watercolor Paper with lots of water and then swiped the Distress Stains up and down on the card stock. Once all four colors were on the card stock, I sprayed the whole surface with water to blend the colors and then heat set it.

I used Distress Ink in two coordinating colors to blend over the card surface to enrich the colors.

I smushed some Picket Fence Distress Stain onto a Craft Sheet and used a Watercolor Brush to pick up the color and then splashed it onto the surface of both cards.

Faded Jeans Distress Ink was applied through a Faded Dots Stencil and”How Wonderful Life is Now You’re in the World” from Random Quotes was stamped in Black Archival Ink.

Distress Stains were used to dye Crinkle Ribbon which was attached to the card front using Glue Dots. TH Typeset Alphabet Strip and Newsprint were used to die cut letters spelling out their names which were then attached using 2-Way Glue. The #1 was cut from SU! Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using SU! Perfect Print Die Cuts.

Finally, the card front was attached to a card base of SU! Pacific Point Cardstock that was cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored and folded at 4-1/4″. A piece of Whisper White card stock 4″ x 5-1/4″ was attached to the inside of the card. I hope you enjoyed celebrating this special day with me! Animal Print Double Glitter and Craft Metal Card

I love Animal Prints, I love Glitter and I love Craft Metal! Today’s card combines all three of those along with my favorite Double Bow! I used to admire them on other people’s cards but could never tie them properly. Then, someone showed me how to tie a double bow using my fingers and now…I put them on everything! (You can see that video HERE.) The Technique used on this card is called the “Double Glitter Technique” – (even though I used 3 different glitters on this one). Animal Print Double Glitter and Craft Metal Card

The base card is SU! Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored and folded at 4-1/4″.
The Craft Metal Sheet was cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ and then adhered to a Sticker Sheet.

The Sticker Sheet Backing was peeled off. IMPORTANT: Dina Wakely’s “Paint Lids” Stencil was covered with Versamark Ink prior to laying it onto the Sticker Sheet. The Sticker Sheet is very sticky. This step is necessary so that you can remove the stencil later. **If you are using a Metal Stencil, cover the stencil with Hawaiian Soap prior to adhering the stencil to the Sticker Sheet.

The Stencil was put on the sticky side of the Craft Metal.

Scattered Straw Distress Glitter was sprinkled onto the stencil and pressed into the spaces in the stencil.

First Glitter

Vintage Photo Distress Glitter was sprinkled over the remainder of the stencil.
The Stencil was carefully removed.

Two Glitters

Chunky Black Glitter was poured over the remainder of the Sticker Sheet.

Third Glitter

The Craft Metal Sheet was adhered to the base card with Score-Tape.
A small slit was made at the top of the card to fit the 7/8″ Chocolate Organdy Ribbon through. It was adhered to the card front using Glue Dots.
A Double Bow was tied with the same ribbon (See Video HERE)

Animal Print Double Glitter and Craft Metal Card

“Feel Better” from Sassy Salutations was stamped in Versamark Ink onto Brushed Bronze Craft Metal and embossed with Black Soot Distress Embossing Powder.
It was cut out using a Banner Framelit and adhered to the card front using Foam Tape.
A 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock was adhered to the inside of the card.
