I am absolutely in LOVE with Tim’s July Tag for the 12 Tags of 2014! Holy Cow! I had a PARTY – all by myself! LOL ! Do you see the SAND!!!! It’s so easy! (“My Boyfriend”) Tim, has the recipe with photos on his BLOG. I had so much fun doing this!
So…to begin, I put Broken China Distress Paint onto my Craft Sheet and spritzed it with water. I dragged the tag through it and heat set it. Next, I put Weathered Wood Distress Stain onto the Craft Sheet, spritzed it with water and dragged the tag through that. After it was heat set, I sponged over it with Salty Ocean Distress Ink and Evergreen Bough Distress Ink. I did the “Spritz and Flick” Technique with water and heat set again. Finally, I used the Spritzing Tool and a Black Soot Distress Marker to create tiny black dots. The edge of the tag was sanded with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
The Seahorse is from the Sand and Sea Die. I cut it from Chipboard and used Broken China, Peeled Paint and Gathered Twigs Distress Paints to color it. Once it was heat set, I sanded over the paint and then sponged with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
To create the “water” I had to improvise because the Bubble Embossing Folder hasn’t arrived yet so I used the Regal Flourishes Embossing Folder and some packaging to create “waves.” It covered up the background too much so I cut the top off to allow the background to show a little and then stapled it to the tag with the Tiny Attacher.
The Sand Dollar was cut from the Sand and Sea Die and painted with Antique Linen Distress Paint. While the paint was still wet, I sprinkled Antique Linen Distress Embossing Powder and allowed it to dry. The edges were sponged with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and outlined with a Black Soot Distress Marker.
The Starfish was created in the same way but it was inked with Rusty Hinge Distress Paint. The Fishing Net was created with the Honeycomb Die and card stock that was sponged with Gathered Twigs Distress Paint.
The greenery was created using the Tattered Pinecone Die and card stock. It was then colored with Distress Paints and sponged with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.
The “Sand” was created using Ultra Thick Embossing Powder, Distress Embossing Powder, Distress Glitter and Crystal Effects. It was adhered on top of a layer of Crystal Effects.
An Idea-ology Word Band was colored with Antique Linen Paint and attached with Jute String. Linen Ribbon was used through the hole in the tag.
I hope you enjoyed my July Tag as much as I enjoyed creating it! Happy 4th of July! 😀
